Join our book group
If you love reading and are interested in American literature, you might want to join our book group.
Reading Across the Pond meets on the second Monday of the month, 5.30pm to 6.30pm, in the Vernon Castle Room at the Millennium Library.
It's a fun group with lively discussions, most of them concerning that month’s book!
The books are predominantly fiction, with some recent ones being:
- 11.22.63 by Stephen King
- The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick
- Illusion of Separateness by Bryan Stevenson
The very occasional real-life (non-fiction) book will also make an appearance, such as In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.
Beyond popular writers and American classics like The Grapes of Wrath and The Old Man and the Sea, books by Barbara Kingsolver (The Poisonwood Bible) Ayana Mathis (The Twelve Tribes of Hattie) and Michael Chabon (Telegraph Avenue) open up a new American landscape for the group.
