56th Fighter Group. April 1944 - September 1945
Location:
Three miles north of Colchester, west of the A12 highway in the parish of Langham.
All sites are now private property and permission must be obtained prior to visiting. Please contact Memorial Library staff.
Remaining buildings, etc.:
Operations block, Briefing and Crew Rooms, numerous buildings on the Technical Site which have mostly been re-clad. Parts of the perimeter track and runways remain but little else on the former flying field.
Memorial:
Erected and dedicated in 1992. Stands on part of the main runway on the south side of Park Lane, Langham. The 56th Fighter Group Museum is located at Halesworth.
