Debden

STATION 356

4th Fighter Group, September 1942 - July 1945

Location:

Two miles south-east of Saffron Walden, south of the A130.

All sites are now private property and permission must be obtained prior to visiting. Please contact Memorial Library staff.

Remaining buildings, etc.:

A pre-Second World War RAF station with permanent buildings of which most remain in use by the British Army. The site is now known as Carver Barracks. Runways and one Hangar remain as do many of the aircraft hard standings, now in poor condition.

Memorial:

A small memorial was erected and dedicated July 1981 near the Main Gate. Permission to view must be prearranged with Public Relations Office at Carver Barracks.
