STATION 165

361st Fighter Group - September 1944 to November 1945

Location:

Three miles north of Saffron Walden on the B1052.

All sites are now private property and permission must be obtained prior to visiting. Please contact Memorial Library staff.

Remaining buildings, etc.:

Control Tower now used for office purposes and a few scattered buildings and both T2 hangars which are used for industrial storage. Runways removed but part of one was used for the reinstated B1052 which was closed during hostilities.

Memorial:

A plaque in the control tower, dedicated in 1987.
