Steeple Morden

STATION 122

355th Fighter Group. July 1943 - July 1945

Location:

Three miles west of Royston, south of road between the villages of Steeple Morden and Litlington.

All sites are now private property and permission must be obtained prior to visiting. Please contact Memorial Library staff.

Remaining Buildings, etc.:

A few buildings remain on and near the airfield Technical Site and at nearby locations. Runways and all but the odd concrete area on the former flying field have been removed and the land returned to agricultural use.

Memorials:

There is an ornate propeller memorial to the 355th F.G. adjacent to Steeple Morden - Litlington Road. Also a Memorial Window in Litlington church, which was dedicated in 1994.

A diorama of airfield in World War Two can be found at the 355th F.G. memorial site.

Key to St Catherine's Church at end bungalow, opposite the village War Memorial.
